Meet Paul — The Story Behind Paul Handyman PEI
Hi, I'm Paul.
I was born in Minsk, Belarus, and from an early age I was fascinated by buildings and the way well-designed spaces can improve people's everyday lives. At the age of 21, I moved to Israel to start a new chapter, where I earned my degree in Architectural Engineering and Interior Design and began building my career in construction and renovations.
Over the years, I've worked as an architect, designer, construction manager, and hands-on renovator. But what I've always enjoyed most is seeing an idea become a real space that families can enjoy.
One of the most memorable parts of my journey was coming to Canada to study traditional timber construction at the Island School of Building Arts on Gabriola Island, British Columbia. Learning from experienced craftsmen gave me a deep appreciation for quality workmanship and building things that are meant to last.
After that, I worked on architectural projects in northern British Columbia before accepting an opportunity in the Philippines, where I worked for a Canadian-owned company helping manage a large industrial construction project. It was a completely different environment and taught me a great deal about leadership, responsibility, and working with people from different cultures.
Another experience that has stayed with me was volunteering in Nepal after their devastating earthquake in 2015. I helped design a simple three-room house that was later replicated many times for local families, as well as a new school for children. It reminded me that construction is about much more than walls and roofs—it's also about helping people rebuild their lives.
Eventually, I returned to Israel and founded my own renovation company. For more than six years, I worked directly with homeowners, renovating apartments and houses from start to finish. I met clients, prepared estimates, purchased materials, managed crews, and spent plenty of time on the tools myself doing drywall, painting, finish carpentry, and interior renovations.
A few years ago, life brought me back to Canada, where I worked as a Project Coordinator on commercial construction projects in Nova Scotia. It was valuable experience, but I realized that what I truly enjoy is working directly with homeowners and seeing the immediate results of my work.
Today, Prince Edward Island is home.
My partner was born and raised on PEI, and together we've chosen to build our future here. I'm proud to help fellow Islanders improve the homes where they create their own memories.
Paul Handyman PEI was built on a simple idea: treat every customer's home as if it were my own. I believe in showing up when I say I will, being honest about pricing, keeping the work area clean, and doing the job properly the first time.
Whether I'm repairing drywall, painting a room, building a new deck, assembling furniture, refreshing a bathroom, or helping a senior make their home safer and more accessible, my goal is always the same—to deliver quality work and leave people feeling happy they called me.
I know inviting someone into your home requires trust. That's why I try to treat every customer the way I would want my own family to be treated: with respect, clear communication, and pride in the finished result.
Thank you for visiting my website, and I hope I'll have the opportunity to help with your next project.
